Overview of OCD

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is characterized by unwanted, intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors (compulsions) intended to neutralize these thoughts. This disorder can be highly disruptive to daily functioning and quality of life.

Comprehensive Treatment

Treatment for OCD includes exposure and response prevention, a form of cognitive-behavioral therapy that helps reduce compulsive behavior and decrease the distress caused by obsessions. Medications, like SSRIs, are also commonly prescribed to help control symptoms.
